Commercial Development of basement, 9,000m² ground floor shop unit for Smyth’s Toy Store and 75 local authority residential units overhead at the corner of Wolfetone Street and Jervis Street. This project was completed in two phases. Phase 1 required the construction of a 9,000m² concrete basement and underpinning existing buildings together with the construction of Reinforced Concrete superstructure clad in re-constituted stone. This element of the work was complete in 6 months. Phase 2 involved the construction of 75 residential units on top of the occupied completed retail unit constructued 5 storey’s over street level in reinforced conrete with traditional brick and block. The project presented many challenges not least that the building footprint was the entire area of the site over an occupied building on a busy thoroughfare.
